2009-2013 - As member of the University of Toronto Faculty Association (UTFA) Executive Council, I was a member of the negotiating team (2009-2012), chair of the Equity Committee (2009-2011), chair of the UTFA Appointments Committee (2011-2013), chair of the Workload Advisory Committee (2012-2013).

This was the first major report on gender, campus, and disciplinary salary inequalities at the University of Toronto.

2002-2006 - Member of the Academic Advisory Council on International Trade, Government of Canada. This body reported directly to the deputy minister for international trade.

2001-2007 - Consultant to the U.S. Library of Congress and contributing editor, Handbook on Latin America, for the library’s collection on the political economy of Mexico.

1989-1994 - Editor, Canadian Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Studies.

1994 and 2000 - Officially accredited electoral observer for the 1994 and 2000 national elections Mexico.
